Fleeting Electric power

Power is usually dominance. Power is influence. Power can be described as virtue and power is known as a vice. Inside the poem entitled " Ozymandias, ” writer Percy Shelley brings to existence a tale of power and how it holds up, or fails to hold up, through time. The poem describes the wreckage of a stone statue constructed by a earlier ruler; " And on the pedestal these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings” (9-10). Through the pursuing lines, " Look in the Works, ye Mighty, and despair! ” (11), it really is clear that Ozymandias was a sort of conqueror. However , Ozymandias' rule did not withstand as well as, as Shelley states, " Nothing besides remains” (12). Through the wording of these four lines, creator Percy Shelley is able to clearly express the theme of the poem, which can be that of tyrants and temporary power. The poem " Ozymandias” begins with a great unnamed narrator telling readers of a tourist he attained in an " antique area. ” The traveler subsequently tells a story, thereon turning out to be the narrator for the duration of the poem, and begins describing the wreckage of a close by statue. The statue, that was probably high and massive when ever first attractive, is the concentrate of the the poem and how that now is only a " colossal wreck, ” left alone inside the desert. He describes how only two legs remain of the figurine, along with a submerged figure with the head. The menacing words and phrases of Ozymandias, the noticeable builder in the statue, are etched into the remaining statue, telling the world to look at the task he produced " and despair. ” The composition ends while using traveler yet again stating the fact that statue is in ruins and alone in the desert. Declaring oneself king is nothing new to history; various dictators and conquerors have been noticed throughout period.
