Years as a child

When I was obviously a baby, the earth was a great deal different. Every thing was amazingly bright, or perhaps awfully dark. I was remarkably happy, or perhaps I was awfully scared. I lived in a new of two extremes. I was trapped on an elevator that soared to the top rated floor in an instant, and dropped to the basement the next. Nothing, not one sense, not one instant, lasted long enough for me to check out. Then, as I stood on with the first time, the elevator came to a halt and the sparkly, metal door slid gradually open. As I required my first steps out of the elevator, the comforting carpet under my toes was replaced with short, prickly grass.
